Artie Barksdale 36, was born in Newark NJ, were he first discovered his love for the visual arts. It was during the mid 80's when neon colors were popular to wear; when people weren't afraid to clash there clothing and graffiti covered the subways and streets, flooding the neighborhood with culture. At the age 10 he attended Arts High school on Saturdays to be educated and inspired. Muralist, Artie Barksdale has been painting for over 20 years. Barksdale attended The North Carolina School of Arts with a concentration in Theatrical Design. He has created murals for Wal-Mart, Curves, Mayflower Seafood, Anytime Fitness, Manchester’s Grill, Durham Parks and Recs, Durham Teen Center, World Overcomers Church and Victorious Praise Fellowship Church Amedeos Sports Bar and Grill and Beyu Caffe. Barksdale is also recognized for his signature mix medium works which he produces with acrylic, airbrush, and styrofoam.
